Inside the Renovation.
I have lived in Amsterdam for eight years. I moved here from Cape Town, where I trained and practiced as an architect, and five years ago I started Studio P3.
The one thing I hear over and over again from the people I work with is that the renovation process feels like a black box. Permits, VvE regulations, budgets that are hard to track. Whether you are dealing with the Gemeente for the first time or trying to understand where your money is actually going, it is a lot to hold.
On site surprises, pushing our creative decision making.
At the studio, we focus on turnkey projects. Bespoke kitchens and full interior architecture projects, designed to stay relevant for a long time. We have an aesthetic that is quietly bold, minimal, and considered. But while people love the finished result, they are often intimidated by how we actually get there. I have spent years building a reliable team and working out the documentation and coordination side of things so my clients do not have to.
So this is an attempt to pull back the curtain a bit.
Over the next few months I will be sharing what a full project actually looks like at Studio P3. Not the polished after photos. The design process, the surprises behind the walls, the technical hurdles, and the small decisions on site that make or break a space. Raw and honest. Hopefully it makes the whole thing feel a little less like a mystery.
